How We Work With You

We begin with a thorough discussion of your community's goals.

Infrastructure should be designed to help achieve community goals. Your infrastructure should be working for you, not getting in your way.

We talk with the people in your community who are the closest to and affected by your infrastructure.

We find out what they know works and does not work and what solutions they have considered.

We develop recommendations.

Recommendations are provided to you after we've identified and researched a range of alternative approaches and asked you which ones you have the greatest interest in. We give you reliable, understandable information (which includes life cycle cost comparisons) in the context of conditions in your own community.

How To Get Started Working With Us

Below are three services we provide. After deciding what works best for you, go to the appropriate form link or proceed to NEXT STEPS arrow

Inventory and Assess Municipal Infrastructure:

We provide your community with tools and training to conduct a comprehensive inventory and assessment of the community's physical assets. Using a systems approach, we help you look at the inter-relationships between different aspects of your infrastructure. For example, water and wastewater, or stormwater and roads.

An inventory and assessment can be provided in a format compatible with GASB 34 requirements.* This will help your community comply with federal accounting requirements while providing you with an invaluable asset management tool. It's a perfect opportunity to think strategically about planning for expansions, repairs and upgrades.

* GASB 34 (Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statement No. 34) requires state and local governments to include an inventory of long lived infrastructure assets in their annual financial statements.

If you are ready to start a dialog with us to inventory and assess your municipal infrastructure, contact us directly or proceed by filling out the MUNICIPAL CHECKLIST FORM arrow

Investigate Alternatives:

By working with community decision-makers and staff to identify and prioritize those assets most in need of repair, improvement or replacement, we identify which assets hold the most potential for cost savings and environmental benefit.

We draw from our library of technologies and technologists to conduct customized research. We look all around the world for cutting edge solutions that have proven effective under circumstances (climate, scale, etc.) similar to those in your community. From this you will be able to present your community with alternatives that allow the community to make the wisest and most affordable decisions for the long term. We identify and connect you with people, programs, and resources that can help you address specific issues in your community whether through energy audits, grants, or technical assistance.

If you are ready to start a dialog with us to investigate alternatives, contact us directly or proceed by filling out the ALTERNATIVES FORM arrow

Implement Alternatives:

We can help you build bid lists of qualified professionals to assist you in implementing alternative approaches, and find grants and incentive monies from the many state and federal agencies that want to encourage the adoption of alternative technologies we have identified. We can help you develop systems to track the impacts of your infrastructure investments over time. We can help you present your plans to the community to generate public support.

If you are ready to start a dialog with us to implement alternatives, contact us directly or proceed by filling out the ALTERNATIVES FORM arrow
